Technology place a crucial role in education systems nowadays. It allows us to teach children and adults many times faster and more efficiently. Still, there are a lot of questions as to whether technology can substitute a human teacher. You can take any side of the debate, and you will be right anyway. Let me share a couple of thoughts being a teacher for 25+ years... I would like to state a question: Can a human teacher help the student develop to the pinnacle of their capacities without using technology? I am sure the answer is yes. It will take a long time, but the interaction between two resonating souls will result in the realization of the human potential. If I formulate another question: Can technology help the student develop fully without the supervision of a wise teacher? I am sure NO. Technology is only an instrument - precious, invaluable, and powerful instrument, but nothing more. I use IT technology in my teaching and consulting for years. I don't remember when I was last using paper books to help mu students - we work online and use only electronic format materials. Still, if I depart from the process, there will be no result at all. A plethora of businesspeople and scientists are becoming too obsessed of technology - sometimes it looks as a delirium, not a healthy passion. I suspect the reason lies in the underdevelopment of certain mental reflection abilities of people, even scholars - they are not able to realize all aspects of educational systems and fall into the trap of the global mania for technology. Some prominent scientists in the sphere of education and psychology state explicitly that the great potential of a human mind can be unleashed ONLY when a student feels UTTER LOVE AND APPRECIATION on the part of the teacher. The first essential condition for educational progress is complete trust and relaxation at the lesson or any other kind of session. Then, using technology, we can open those immense capacities of a human mind. Otherwise the process will resemble monkeys playing with dangerous weapons.
